Goldberg’s last match has been a point of discussion ever since he announced his retirement plans. Following minor setbacks, a new update hints that the time might be drawing near for his long-rumored return.
According to BodySlam.net’s Viper, the WWE Hall of Famer is planned to make his return next week on Monday Night RAW. This could mean that he would begin his last feud should the appearance come to fruition.
Moreover, this would also be a week after Gunther dethroned Main Event Jey Uso to become the World Heavyweight Champion again. “The Ring General” even namedropped Goldberg in an interview following his title win. This further fueled the speculations of an upcoming feud between them.
“Everyone was speculating that Seth Rollins was gonna do something with his briefcase, or that Goldberg was gonna show up to finally kick my ass,” he said. “In reality, when I was world champion the first time, all those big names stayed away from me—and for good reason.”
The WCW legend announced his plan to wrestle one last match in 2025. Since then, Gunther has been rumored to be his opponent. The early seeds were planted during the 2024 WWE Bad Blood PLE. Goldberg made his first appearance for the company after some years. He was sitting in the audience with his family.
Gunther came out for an in-ring segment with WWE CCO Triple H. He called out Goldberg and fired some shots towards him. This led to the former WWE Universal Champion jumping the barricade and almost coming to blows. While Gunther vs. Goldberg was initially planned, the event was delayed. This occurred because Goldberg underwent a stem cell procedure and was taking time to recover.
Furthermore, he recently stated that he knew his retirement match date. With Gunther once again becoming World Champion, and Goldberg rumored to come back next week, the stage might finally be set for this collision, which will see the end of his wrestling career.
