1. John Cena

Whether you were a fan of it or not, John Cena‘s recreation of CM Punk‘s infamous pipebomb promo was the buzzworthy item for WWE this week. Fan reaction seems to be divided, but it definitely got them talking.

Cena had just gotten disqualified in his match against Ron Killings and his post-match attack drew out Punk. Cena gained the upper hand and wound up putting Punk through a table. This opened the door for him to grab a mic and cut loose. He reveled in his opportunity to throw a few things back at Punk and keep the crowd on the edge of their seats. It was a strong end to his night on SmackDown and gains him plenty of momentum heading into Night of Champions.

2. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is one step closer to getting back to the mountaintop. In a terrific main event this past Monday, ‘The American Nightmare’ overcame a tough challenge from his friend and partner Jey Uso to advance to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament.

Rhodes was able to put his emotions aside to overcome an ally from his past. But come Night of Champions, he’ll have to do it again as he’ll face his former Legacy stablemate and mentor, Randy Orton. There will be tons of intrigue for that one both due to their history and the enormous stakes in play. As formidable as Orton is, many believe it’ll be Rhodes taking the crown and getting the title shot at SummerSlam. This Saturday, we’ll find out for sure.

3. Gunther

Gunther is simply one of the most compelling talents in the business. Once again, he is being called upon to do the heavy lifting in a world title program. And once again, he is delivering huge.

WWE is counting on his upcoming match with Goldberg to be a huge draw for Saturday Night’s Main Event. It will undoubtedly get its share of buzz due to Goldberg’s name value. However, the quality of the match will fall squarely on the shoulders of ‘The Ring General’. Given his track record, it should be a safe bet that they’ll deliver. In the meantime, Gunther continues to keep fans interested and his scintillating promo this past Monday was another example of that.

4. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins continues to keep his name in the mix while barely having to step between the ropes. The holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase is putting everyone on notice and unleashing his crew on those who get in his way.

This past Friday, he had Bronson Reed put LA Knight out of commission. Then Monday, Bron Breakker defeated Penta and Rollins sent a clear, verbal warning afterwards. ‘The Visionary’ is exercising his power to let everyone know he is in control. It’ll only be a matter of time before he strikes and cashes in his world title contract. If the past few weeks have been any indication, there’ll be no one daring to meddle with that chance.

5. Randy Orton

Earlier this year at Backlash, Randy Orton gave John Cena a run for his money and almost came away with the Undisputed WWE Championship. Now, Orton finds himself one win away from a marquee rematch.

Orton punched his ticket to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament with a victory over Sami Zayn this past Friday on SmackDown. ‘The Viper’ may be in the twilight of his career, but he looks as strong as ever and is once again in a high-stakes bout. This is nothing new for one of the greatest big-match wrestlers of his generation. It’ll be interesting to see how Orton performs against the supernova that is Cody Rhodes, a man he knows all too well.

6. Asuka

Ah, it has been great to have Asuka back. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ has reestablished herself as a force of nature in the women’s division and will be headed to the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament.

She took down Alexa Bliss this past Friday and looked incredibly sharp in the process. She’ll now head to Riyadh with a chance to keep the momentum going and claim the crown. It has been a little while since Asuka has tasted singles gold in WWE. Winning the final and going on to SummerSlam for a championship opportunity could rectify that and place the future Hall of Famer right back at the top of the division where she belongs.

7. Jade Cargill

Asuka will have a tall task ahead of her, though, as Jade Cargill has also punched her ticket to the finals. Cargill defeated Roxanne Perez in the semifinals this past Monday and inches closer to the biggest opportunity of her career.

Cargill has been a blue-chip prospect for quite a while now. Whether she has fulfilled that promise is a subject of much debate among fans. She unquestionably has the look but her ring work can leave a lot to be desired at times. Nonetheless, WWE has huge faith in her and it continues to be apparent they plan to showcase her at every opportunity. Crowning her Queen of the Ring and placing her in a Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam would definitely be in line with those plans.

8. Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch has no shortage of enemies. But as she’s shown countless times in the past, ‘The Man’ will find a way to come out ahead of any situation. This past Monday’s RAW was no different.

Putting her Women’s Intercontinental title on the line against a fired-up Bayley, Lynch escaped with a disqualification victory by goading Lyra Valkyria into attacking her. This infuriated Bayley who was obviously not too pleased with the result. That suits Lynch just fine as she laughed her way into another week as champion. The trio of ladies are likely on a collision course towards a triple-threat for the title sometime in the near future. Rest assured, Lynch is scheming a plan as we speak.

9. Jacob Fatu

This spot this week could have just as easily gone to Solo Sikoa. The former self-professed ‘Tribal Chief’ has been fantastic in this feud. But Jacob Fatu is the United States Champion and has been equally fantastic, so he gets the nod…for now.

The two relatives are set to clash for that U.S. title at Night of Champions. It’s a match that has been a long time coming with a ton of baggage. There’s also the huge outside factor that is JC Mateo, who will undoubtedly be seconding Sikoa in the match. But Fatu is as dynamic a talent as WWE has right now and was able to turn away an attack from those two this past Friday with the help of Jimmy Uso. It’ll take a lot to cool off Fatu and take the title from him.

10. Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez sneaks into the top 10 this week despite losing her semifinal match against Jade Cargill. ‘The Prodigy’ may not be advancing in the tournament, but she is becoming increasingly prominent in the ongoing saga of The Judgment Day.

Perez has been working to ingratiate herself with the group despite the reservations of many of their members. She took a big step towards doing that this past Monday by helping Raquel Rodriguez take down Rhea Ripley and put her through a table. It seemed to have finally softened Rodriguez’s resistance to Perez at a time when that could be very beneficial. With Liv Morgan missing from RAW for the foreseeable future, Perez could be in line to have a very prominent role on the Red Brand.
