Is WWE Plotting An Alternative Following The Death Of WWE Network?

A recent trademark filing by the company has us asking: is WWE preparing a new Network alternative?

When it was launched years ago, the WWE Network was ahead of the curve. It may not seem like it, but it was. The company had, for decades, run big shows on pay-per-view, leveraging the cable providers to make bank. And then the company introduced the WWE Network and opted to include PPV events as part of the very affordable subscription.

But now, the WWE Network is about to go dark, and it leaves fans wondering about what comes next.

WWE Trademarks the term ‘Raw Vault’

A side effect of WWE moving RAW to Netflix? The network is shutting off as of January 1, 2025. That means the library of content is no longer going to be on Peacock, and the entity we knew and loved as the network will be no more.

And sure, the content will be over on the streaming giant from then on. Or at least, from then until a time when a new contract sends WWE elsewhere. So then what do we make of a new trademark filing by the company, for the name RAW Vault?

According to Fightful, the promotion filed the legal paperwork for the trademark on December 6, 2024. The wording of the filing does seem to point to some means to consume archived footage, but as with many filings, it leaves out the exact purpose.

It is worth pointing out that this might be a big nothing. After all, the company already runs a WWE Vault channel on YouTube. Could this just be covering a new channel dedicated specifically to the red brand? Perhaps. In any case, given the timing I expect we will find out soon enough.
