McAfee works on RAW alongside Michael Cole. You could arguably call them the top WWE announce team, though the distinction does not really matter. The former NFL punter came into WWE thanks to his on air efforts following his football career. He has built his own Pat McAfee Show into a giant and he’s an engaging media figure. He is in demand, and things might get interesting shortly.

When McAfee last worked College Game Day, the move saw him leave behind his WWE duties. He did so with the blessing of WWE leadership, and worked special appearances when he could while focusing on Game Day. Of course, he’s been fully back on RAW for basically all of 2024. But now, the new wrinkle. McAfee is going to go back and once again do GameDay. Does this mean he will once again step away from WWE?

We don’t yet know

Fightful has delivered a report that, for now, does not provide a great deal of clarity. Thus far, it seems neither McAfee nor WWE have made a decision. Or, if one has been reached, it has not yet been shared with the WWE Universe. On one hand, it is not impossible to imagine Pat flying from the College Game Day set on Saturday to wherever RAW is the following Monday. Of course, while that is possible for Pat McAfee to handle WWE duties along with ESPN, we don’t know if that is something any involved want to tackle.

For now, McAfee remains a part of the announce team. However, the college football season is fast approaching. A decision should be revealed soon enough, and we may find ourselves once again missing McAfee on Mondays.
