WWE Evolution 2 is just a few weeks away, and it seems it will have the inclusion of a company legend.
“We are told the return of Trish Stratus is right around the corner, as the announcement of her return was planned and scripted into the 6/13 episode of Friday night SmackDown,” Wrestle Votes reported this week. “While this plan was obviously scrapped, we are told the return is still on the books, with Stratus set to be part of the upcoming Evolution PLE.”
With the WWE legend set to return to the ring for the all-women’s event, let’s look at five potential opponents she could face.
Chelsea Green

While she was always a good heel, Stratus is one of the great female heroes in WWE history. She is likely to play the same role for her return, and taking on an entertaining heel like Chelsea Green feels like a good fit. Especially if this could be Stratus’ retirement match and the company wants to give her a win for her wrestling swan song.
Bayley

If WWE wants to go the route of making dream matches that fans have never seen, Stratus vs. Bayley could be a possible direction. Both are legends of the women’s division and played significant roles in its evolution. The two facing off for the first and only time at Evolution 2 seems perfect.
Tiffany Stratton

In her most recent appearance, Trish Stratus teamed up with SmackDown star Tiffany Stratton. If the promotion wanted a classic clash of eras, a match between the two with no heat, but purely for competition’s sake, could be intriguing. Especially if Stratton is still the WWE Women’s Champ when Evolution 2 rolls around.
Giulia

Another option that could be a clash of generations and styles, while playing to a babyface Stratus, a matchup with former NXT champ Giulia could be very fun. Giulia is a rising star on SmackDown, and talents like that need a classic rub from established stars and legends. A matchup at Evolution could be a huge benefit for the Japanese star and give Stratus a foe that could carry her to a great match.
Nia Jax

In that aforementioned tag match with Stratton, they battled the team of Candice LaRae and Nia Jax. Jax and Stratus have never faced each other. And the WWE legend going one-on-one with the biggest woman to ever compete in the division is interesting. Especially since there is already a built-in storyline to set up the clash.
