‘- WWE has grabbed several big names from UFC like Ronda Rousey and Matt Riddle over the past year. Apparently, they are also speaking with the current UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
During a media scrum to promote his Heavyweight Championship match at UFC 230 against Derrick Lewis, Cormier revealed how he had a tryout set with WWE for a commentary gig. That was put on hold after being added as a late addition to headline UFC 230.
Cornier and UFC have a great relationship, which even sees Cormier call some of their cards cage side and he also works as an analyst for Fox Sports.
According to Cormier, he plans to fight once more after his title defense with Lewis. The leading names are Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar; Cormier has a past with both men. He lost to Jones twice, but the second meeting was overturned to a no contest due to failed drugs tests on Jones’ part. After Cormier won the Heavyweight Championship over the summer, Lesnar entered the octagon and shoved Cormier. Either fight will net Cormier a nice purse.
– At Friday’s WWE live event from Maine, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss made their in ring returns in separate matches. Banks, Bayley & Dana Brooke defeated Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Alicia Fox; while Ronda Rousey & Nia Jax defeated Bliss & Mickie James.
Banks was out for about a month with an undisclosed health related issue. She has appeared on RAW, but mostly just accompanying Bayley at ringside. Bliss had been dealing with minor arm injury stemming from a loss at Hell in a Cell to Rousey.
This is good news for WWE as Bliss teams with James to take on Hall of Famers Trish Stratus & Lita at Evolution on October 28. As of now, Banks and Bayley have no match for the show. They could be tossed into the battle royal unless WWE can find a storyline for them in the next week. There was speculation that WWE might introduce tag team titles for the women’s division, which would be a perfect fit for Banks & Bayley.
