Ronda Rousey’s Royal Rumble Opponent, Tonight’s TLC Coverage

Ronda Rousey's Royal Rumble Opponent

‘- Almost a year ago, Ronda Rousey debuted with WWE and she has received a massive push that has never been seen before for a female superstar. As Rousey approaches her one year anniversary with the promotion, the WWE is looking towards a major Royal Rumble match.

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how the running idea appears to be Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair at the Royal Rumble. Of course, both are on separate brands and that would cause some kind of crafty work on WWE’s end to book the match. With tonight being the TLC pay per view and the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line, the storyline could begin before the day concludes.

“If [Becky Lynch] loses and Charlotte is the champion, that’s fine; but, if Ronda loses and Nia [Jax] becomes the champion that kinda sucks,” said Meltzer. “So, but you know Charlotte can cost her the match because I’m pretty sure that they’re gonna go with Ronda and Charlotte at Royal Rumble. I mean based on everything I heard that was the direction.”

When Becky suffered a concussion, she selected Charlotte to be her replacement at Survivor Series. Rousey won via disqualification after Charlotte used the kendo stick and other weapons in a thrilling encounter. Since that November pay per view, Charlotte and Rousey have not been physical with each other.

As for WrestleMania 35, WWE certainly wants Rousey to enter as the biggest female superstar. There have been rumors about her opponent, with Becky and Charlotte both being mentioned; with the possibility of a triple threat still on the table.

Even after TLC ends, we might still not have a clear picture of the plan for WrestleMania. We should know after the Royal Rumble on January 27 on what roles all three ladies will play at the grandest show of them all.
