Sami Zayn in hurt, according to Mike Johnson at PWInsider. The story goes that Zayn has nursed an injury for a while. This news explains why Lashley demolished Zayn at Money In The Bank in a lopsided snoozer.
Zayn, 33, was not backstage at last night’s Raw and we have been told that he is scheduled to travel to Birmingham, Alabama this week to be examined and to have an injury (which we have not been able to confirm the nature of) deal with.
Sports and culture writer Justin Davis has heard from insiders that it is Zayn’s shoulder.
I’m hearing it’s his shoulder again, and it’s bad.

This isn’t Zayn’s first shoulder problem. Sami Zayn injured his shoulder the night of his main roster debut in 2015 in a match against John Cena. Ultimately the injury sidelined him for most of the year. Zayn returned briefly to NXT in December 2015 before moving to the main roster.
If surgery is required, Zayn will be out for the rest of the year healing and rehabilitating his arm. It is possible he is back next year in time for the Royal Rumble.
While no injury comes at a good time, Zayn was in a stalled-out position on the main roster. His bizarre feud with Lashley came to a screeching halt and there looked to be no further plans for him.
Hopefully, Zayn can heal up and return to the ring soon!
