Bad matches happen, no matter what promotion you are watching. That being said, the WWE takes the cake this year when it comes to bad pay-per-views and subsequent matches. We had quite the choice already, but these are the 5 worst pay-per-view matches in our opinion.
1. Baron Corbin Versus Kurt Angle At WWE WrestleMania 35
This one is the worst for us by far. Unfortunately, the match involved one of the WWE’s greatest icons – Kurt Angle.
The match between Baron Corbin and Kurt Angle was meant to be a retirement match for the Olympic legend, but it was far from a tribute to the legend we expected. Instead, Baron Corbin came out looking super-strong, while Kurt Angle almost appeared like a jobber. No wonder that Baron Corbin is now one of the most hated superstars on the roster.
2. The Undertaker Versus Goldberg At Super ShowDown
While we did not want to put this match on the list at all due to the legend status of The Undertaker and Goldberg, who frankly have nothing to prove, we had to because this is one of the matches that stood out the most in this overview.
The match between The Undertaker and Goldberg should not have lasted as long as it did. During the 10-minute match, both men were struggling and Goldberg even collapsed afterwards. The Undertaker could not even hide his disappointment. While nobody blames the wrestlers in question, this match should not have happened the way it did. Fortunately, we have lots of great moments to hold onto from The Undertaker’s and Goldberg’s past.
3. Seth Rollins Versus Baron Corbin At WWE Stomping Grounds
This horrible match only took place recently, and once again involves Baron Corbin. It is rare for Seth Rollins to have a poor match, so this was certainly a main event that will be in the minds of many people for years to come.
While it was a Seth Rollins match, I think the overall creative setup of the match was to blame here. Lacey Evans as the referee broke up the action constantly, which in turn made for very boring viewing. It was also a lengthy match, where the action was very few and far in between.
4. Sasha Banks And Bayley Versus Nia Jax And Tamina At Fastlane
In the category “matches that made zero sense”, we have the tag team match Sasha Banks and Bayley versus Nia Jax and Tamina. Firstly, the WWE painted Nia and Tamina as a real threat, but the actual match only went on for a minimal of 7 minutes. Nothing about this match was exciting, even though it could have been.
5. 50-Man Battle Royal At Super ShowDown
In our next category “the most pointless matches in WWE history”, we have the 50-Man Battle Royal. Not only was this one of the most pointless matches in history – because the winner does not get anything out of it let’s be fair – it was also one of the more boring matches. Great for Mansoor, but not sure that his win will mean anything in the grand scheme of the WWE.
