If there is one man who is heading straight to the Hall of Fame, it is certainly John Cena. John has been responsible for numerous iconic matches over the years, even though some fans may choose to ignore that since the CM Punk incident. Since John Cena is delighting us with his presence in the ring again after his break, here are my favorite and most memorable matches of this WWE superstar.
John Cena vs. CM Punk (MITB – 2011)

The match between John Cena and CM Punk in 2011 was undoubtedly a work of art. It also showed Cena’s impeccable abilities in the ring, despite the fact that many focus on CM Punk.
If you want the truth about this match, I believe that each wrestler relied on their personal strengths to make this match an unforgettable one. CM Punk counted on speed, while Cena chose to wow the crowd with strength.
John Cena Vs. Rob Van Dam (ECW One Night Stand – 2006)
Some of the earlier matches of John Cena cannot be underestimated, even during a time when he was hated by ECW fans! This was certainly case for the match he had with Rob van Dam.
Rob Van Dam took on John Cena at One Night Stand in 2006. The match started with some toilet paper being thrown at Cena, but would end in a true masterpiece of wrestling styles and a lot of determination to wow the crowd.
John Cena & Nikki Bella Vs. The Miz & Maryse (WrestleMania 33)
This match with John Cena I will remember for other reasons than wrestling skills, because this is the match where John finally popped the question. The entire match also features some double-teaming, which was the cutest thing ever!
Cena Vs. Eddie Guerrero (SmackDown September 2003)
I am quite surprised that many people don’t remember this match, because it is honestly one of the matches that still sticks in my head today.
Even though this was not a pay-per-view match, Eddie and John made it into an iconic WrestleMania-worthy match. A stark contrast with some of the backstage matches we have to suffer today.
Cena Vs. JBL (Judgement Day 2005)
An I Quit Match with Cena and JBL, who can say no to that? The match was certainly a match that brought some of the most memorable moments in WWE history.
At the time of this match, John Cena was the young upstart with a no-quitting attitude. JBL was the experienced veteran, who was not afraid to use some dirty tricks and his mean streak.
I honestly believe that this match was the prelude for SuperCena. Taking down a champion like JBL did put him own the map, and would see Cena becoming the poster boy of the company. So, next time someone tells you that Cena has been given everything for free, realise that he actually comes from a humble background and worked quite hard to get what he has today. Hustle, loyalty and lots of respect!
