‘-At the end of last night’s TLC PPV, it would be easy to believe Ronda Rousey had turned heel. The RAW Women’s Champion had declared backstage that she had revenge in mind, and she meant it. Rousey marched down to the ring during the SmackDown Women’s Championship match and got involved. She tipped over a ladder that had both Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch on it, clearing the way for Asuka to claim gold.
While such a move could be construed as a heel turn, early indications are that it was not meant to be a turn. According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the Rousey angle was not intended to turn the RAW Champion. That being said, a heel turn could make some measure of sense eventually. For one, following her program with the Bella Twins, there were plenty who felt she talked more as a heel. Then there’s the eventuality that her MMA Horsewomen will be coming to the main roster-and all three are very much decidedly heels. Pairing her up with say, Paul Heyman, could make for an interesting new stable.
-If you thought Becky Lynch socking Nia Jax backstage at TLC didn’t feel like enough closure for that angle, you are probably right. The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the two may meet again in Phoenix during the Rumble. One finish being discussed would have Nia Jax and Becky Lynch as the final two participants. The two could brawl and exit the ring in such a fashion as to effectively tie, leading to one more match, one on one between the two women. This match would then be used to determine who gets a title shot at WrestleMania.
While this makes sense from a booking perspective, it may not be the best move. I think if you fully intend to go with Lynch and Rousey in the main event in New Jersey, you’d be better off hyping that match from the end of the Rumble. While I know WWE can hype things up in a few weeks, giving that match 2 months of build feels much more like WrestleMania.
