It is obvious that many wrestling fans are fed up with the Jinder Mahal title reign. However, the WWE has not given up on pursuing the Indian wrestling market and is planning some live events in December in India. Could this have an impact on Jinder Mahal and his title reign?
The Live Events in India
Some of the last events of the WWE in India took place in 2016 when the company toured through Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Now, the WWE is looking to visit India again, more specifically in Abu Dhabi.
According to the India Times, the live events will take place on December 6 at the Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium. Still, there is one odd thing about the live events, because the events seem focused on the RAW roster. Therefore, it is by no means certain that Jinder Mahal will be present during the live events. The same applies to the Singh Brothers.
Rumors About Jinder’s Title Reign Ending
We have been speculating a lot on Ringside that Jinder’s title reign might be coming to an end. According to some WWE officials, the company will focus on other superstars on the SmackDown brand in the nearby future; this could include Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, and Shane McMahon.
Could India Events Affect the Title Reign?
Of course, with live events in India on the tour schedule, the WWE might not be implementing their final plans anytime soon. If they are still focused on Jinder as the poster boy for Indian wrestling fans, then Jinder could be retaining his title longer than anyone expected.
The WWE plans for SmackDown Live are far from clear, but there has been some speculation on several wrestling websites. Some wrestling journalists even claim that Jinder will retain the title until WrestleMania. If this is the case, it could be possible that both Brock Lesnar and Mahal retain for many months to come. Still, if the WWE continues with this plan, the SmackDown Live brand might not survive the damage.
Focus on the Asian Market
The WWE is not just focusing on India though because the brand also wants to conquer Asia; this immediately explains the large influx of Asian wrestlers we have seen over the past couple of month.
While I have no problems with seeing the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Hideo Itami, and Asuka in the ring, I do feel like the WWE is alienating some of their European fan bases. Take into account, I watch New Japan Wrestling too, and I feel more of a connection with their roster than what is happening in the WWE at the moment.
At the end of the day, the WWE is strongly focusing on one part of the wrestling market and alienating another. The future will tell how much damage the SmackDown brand will get where European and American wrestling fans are concerned.
