Chris Jericho & Jim Ross Working On A New Wrestling Promotion?
Chris Jericho knows wrestling all year isn’t healthy and as a result he’s slowed down his WWE schedule. The downtime allows Jericho more time to write books and make music with Fozzy.

There are rumors circulating that some well known names are looking to start a wrestling promotion. SEScoops states that Chris Jericho, Jim Ross and agent Barry Bloom are working to create their own wrestling company that would be financed by Shahid Khan.

Khan certainly has the money, owning the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C. of the English Premier League. Ross has the wrestling knowledge and Jericho has in the in-ring skills. Ross has turned down several contracts from WWE and has been sending out feelers. At one point, Jericho would not compete for any company without WWE’s permission but that seems to have changed as he has worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling and the All In event back in September.

The report continued that project would start somewhere in the next 12-16 months and feature top talent like Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Adam Page. WWE has shown interest in signing all of them when their contracts end in about two months. The wrestlers have stated that they want to move forward as a group.

If the rumors are true, a major hurdle would be securing a TV deal. Without a spot on TV, a wrestling promotion is not worth much; even if the roster is stacked with known names. Since the rumors starting swirling, Jericho denied them on Twitter, but he is known to troll fans on social media.

If Ross and Jericho are working together with someone who has the cash to front the bill, they would be a worthy challenge for companies such as Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling. Of course, toppling WWE would be nearly impossible at this stage. Still, competition is what the WWE needs to improve their product as no other wrestling company is close to duplicating what they have created.

The lineage of pro wrestling dates back centuries, tying the world together through the art of storytelling. After decades ... More about Joe Lisnow
