The Road to Wrestlemania 35 is off to an explosive start. With fan favorites Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins headed for WWE title shots, fans watch in utter enjoyment as the Architect and The Man carve their sports entertainment legacy heading into the Grandest Stage of Them All.
You see what’s happening here, right?

Becky’s knee injury is clearly a work, which seems to be put in place to help progress “The Man versus The Establishment” storyline; with a promo during last night’s RAW, which mirrored any Stone Cold/Vince McMahon segment that fans fondly remember during that era. Lynch attacked Stephanie McMahon without batting an eyelash, and she continued to shatter the past ideals around female talent by attacking any male referees or officials that tried to get in her way. Having said that, Post Wrestling’s John Pollock recently reported that Lynch’s knee injury and absence during SmackDown house shows this past weekend is aimed to help sell this idea, so Becky Lynch fans (although we probably already all knew this), don’t have to worry about The Man, her Wrestlemania status, or anything jeopardizing the show’s main event. She’s okay, and not really injured.
However, reports have surfaced indicating that Seth Rollins is injured and out of action, albeit, for a short amount of time (most likely a month or so). He will most likely be fine by the time Wrestlemania rolls around. Then, there’s Sasha Banks with a minor injury that kept her out of action during her women’s tag title match this past Monday Night RAW, where her partner Bayley carried most of the work load. Seems as if The Boss will be okay come Elimination Chamber time, as the duo defeated crazies Nikki Cross and Alicia Fox to qualify and move forward in the tourney where the first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned, come Sunday February 17th.

Still, we have over two months to go before Wrestlemania 35, with two big matches already slated, with more coming down the pipeline. With injuries part of the business, and often one of those things that can catch superstars and officials off guard, how does the WWE protect its superstars, huge event, and all that is invested in months of planning for this annual flagship event?
Dare I say, by playing it safe. While the scrapped Survivor Series match pitted between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch ended up being a blessing in disguise for both The Man and her fans, as she will most likely close the big show and make history doing so being in the first-ever women’s WM main event, perhaps holding her back from live shows and action in general leading up to the Grandest Stage of Them All by faking an injury is more to protect the biggest match for Wrestlemania right now, and probably the most important bout in the Women’s Wrestling Revolution ever. Not only is the WWE enhancing Lynch’s no-nonsense attitude, embracing her female version of “Stone Cold” (the black knee brace helps, right?), they are also ensuring that their top talent will be in tip top shape for their flagship event by creating a compelling injury storyline that also digs deeper in character development; one that the WWE Universe may not take seriously, but shall be entertained along the way.
