‘- There were several shocking moments this week, with one of those going to Daniel Bryan. In the main event of SmackDown, Daniel Bryan turned heel towards the end of his match against AJ Styles. Besides turning heel, Bryan always captured the WWE Championship; ending Styles’ year long reign.
By winning the title, Survivor Series underwent a major change. With Bryan as champion on SmackDown, he now takes on RAW’s Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Considering how both are heels, people are wondering if WWE should have waited another week before putting the strap on Bryan.
During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented how WWE needs to somehow portray Bryan as the face at Survivor Series. He continued how WWE is looking at Survivor Series with more of a RAW vs. SmackDown theme and not faces vs. heels. Once Sunday’s show concludes, the storyline will continue with Bryan working as a heel.
As we mentioned earlier, Bryan has been campaigning for months to turn heel and Vince McMahon was not against the idea. The decision for the heel turn to move forward was made only days before Tuesday’s SmackDown.
With Bryan now WWE Champion, that leaves AJ Styles off the card. Last year, Styles wrestled Lesnar and it was one of the best matches “The Beast” has produced during his second run with WWE. It will be interesting to see the reaction Bryan gets at Survivor Series.
– Jim Ross took a nasty fall yesterday, leaving half of his face a complete mess. One eye is completely swollen shut and there are several lacerations after taking a “bump” on the concrete.
Still, Ross said he will be present at this weekend’s Oklahoma Sooners game. The WWE Hall of Famer clearly loves football.
Everyone at WrestleNewz wishes Ross a speedy recovery.
Took a bad bump last night. The concrete went over.
Still going to @OU_Football tonight. #BoomerSooner pic.twitter.com/7Hl506SrQ6
