For Cris Cyborg, a dream fight with Kayla Harrison is what she wants next.
Cyborg, though, believes Harrison is not interested.
With PFL purchasing the contracts of fighters through Bellator, putting the two legendary combat sports athletes together appears to be a no-brainer.
But recently, Cyborg posted that the Olympic medalist declined the fight proposed between the two.
I am disappointed to hear after (PFL CEO Peter Murray) offered me the date and location for a fight against (Harrison), and after we accepted the bout, that she has now declined the offer,” Cyborg wrote.
There was no mention of when or where, though PFL is planning to embark on its super-fight series through pay-per-view this year.
Over the past several years, Cyborg and Harrison have sparred through interviews and social media. However, Cyborg was previously signed to the UFC and Bellator, with Harrison being part of the PFL roster since turning pro.
There is also the option of placing current PFL champion Larissa Pacheco against Cyborg. During the final event of 2023, several champions from both promotions squared off, but Cyborg was not one of those.
Cris Cyborg Set For Pro Boxing Bout This Month
As for Cyborg’s next appearance, she is scheduled to compete in the boxing ring. She will take on Kelsey Wickstrum January 19.
The bout will take place from the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. World Fighting Championships will promote the six-round junior middleweight fight.
She competed twice in 2022 in the ring, earning a pair of decision wins over Gabrielle Holloway and Simone da Silva.
